We present Elmo! Part 1

Elmo walked into the room. With his feet facing outward as if he were a ballet teacher, his hands dangling and gesturing like those of a Muppet. The look on his face was sheer resentment, directed at the ignorant peasants, who had dared to demand his nearly royal attention. "Meow", exclaimed our illustrious hero, "Who wants me to eat their cat?" I think at this point we need to describe to you, our dear readers, the physical and emotional attributes of this man. He grew up, the son of Jewish immigrants from Russia and Poland, in a suburban Delaware blue-collar, mostly Jewish neighborhood. His father, Leon, a post-world war II disgruntled chemical engineer, and his mother, a pleasantly overweight housewife had 3 children. All of them rather strange, which greatly disappointed the father, a man who had hoped that his children would grow up to be the next Marxes, Einsteins, and Curies. Or in the worst case scenario - Henry Kissinger. The children appeared lazy, slow, and had very few friends. They all exhibited anti-social behavior and had a difficult time with the "concrete" sciences - math, physics, chemistry. They showed no passion for studying these, instead preferring to doodle away in their own worlds, hidden in the conclaves of their basement bedrooms. But one child stood out more than the others. Young Eliot's inexplicable laughter that seemed to come out of nowhere for no obvious reasons, his quirky remarks, the ability to amuse himself, and mutter under his breath <b>...</b>

21 марта возле здания ОАО «Днепрэнерго» по адресу г. Запорожье, ул. Добролюбова,20 народные депутаты от Партии регионов устроили потасовку с представителями охранного агентства. Самые активные Лукьянов, Воропаев, Белый, Тэдеев и другие, размахивая депутатскими корочками и нецензурно выражаясь, пытались прорваться сквозь ряд охранников. В итоге, пользуясь депутатской неприкосновенностью, члены Партии регионов нанесли охранникам многочисленные ушибы, а также поломали мебель. Присутствовавшие на этом «мероприятии» сотрудники милиции не мешали народным избранникам, а бойцы «Беркута» даже помогали откровенно хулиганским методам членов Партии регионов. Находящиеся возле здания ОАО «Днепрэнерго» митингующие с плакатами, выкриками подзадоривали своих народных избранников.

Mission to Ukraine 7/11/2007 - Hope to People ministry Rivne

July 9, 2007 Monday was my busiest day in Rivne. Unfortunately, this was the only day I decided to leave my video camera behind. We walked a few blocks from Sasha's flat to the Hope to People center. I toured the facility with Sasha and then had lunch with his brother Misha, who is a pastor of another church, and Olyona our interpreter. Three churches working together in various outreaches run Hope to People. The center is a huge Soviet era three-story building with three wings. Most of it is gutted and they are slowly working on renovating all of it. They have added a new wing that is going to serve as a larger sanctuary. About 20 ministries, including three church sanctuaries and a Bible Seminary are housed there. We then drove out to see John Whittemore at the house of Sasha (my roommate at the camp and a church administrator). He runs an orphanage out of their house. He has a beautiful garden surrounding all sides of the house and the boys who live at the orphanage have done most of the work on the house. They did a beautiful job on the house with lots of nice tile and plaster work. He brought me into to a cellar where they had hundreds of cans of pickles. I asked him if they would ever eat them all and he said that in just one church summer youth camp they ate this many. Then we went to see another building project in a village on the outskirts of Rivne. They had bought an old Soviet-era insane asylum campus and are planning on turning it into a youth camp.
