It's everywhere. The manufacturers — the marking says China — obviously did a sophisticated job developing the concept. They captured Hitler in detail, down to his jackboots. The heels are lined with square nails, like those used in the German military footwear of the 1930s. The only mismatch is the eyeglasses: For some reason, they resemble those of John Lennon, imparting humanity to the premier Nazi in the world. "Buy today. Tomorrow can be too late." Despite the not-so-childish price of about $250, in Kyiv there's a line of people eager to buy the toy. Store manager: The toy's made of plastic. No, it has moving arms and legs. I'm a having a boy...a male customer at the moment. Narrator: In stores, they tell and show, with pleasure, what the Hitler toy can do. Store manager: Here come the decorations, orders, a tie, a cane, this thing I don't know how to call, and gloves. Yes, you can undress him; his clothes are equipped with snap fasteners. 21 марта возле здания ОАО «Днепрэнерго» по адресу г. Запорожье, ул. Добролюбова,20 народные депутаты от Партии регионов устроили потасовку с представителями охранного агентства. Самые активные Лукьянов, Воропаев, Белый, Тэдеев и другие, размахивая депутатскими корочками и нецензурно выражаясь, пытались прорваться сквозь ряд охранников. В итоге, пользуясь депутатской неприкосновенностью, члены Партии регионов нанесли охранникам многочисленные ушибы, а также поломали мебель. Присутствовавшие на этом «мероприятии» сотрудники милиции не мешали народным избранникам, а бойцы «Беркута» даже помогали откровенно хулиганским методам членов Партии регионов. Находящиеся возле здания ОАО «Днепрэнерго» митингующие с плакатами, выкриками подзадоривали своих народных избранников.
July 9, 2007 Monday was my busiest day in Rivne. Unfortunately, this was the only day I decided to leave my video camera behind. We walked a few blocks from Sasha's flat to the Hope to People center. I toured the facility with Sasha and then had lunch with his brother Misha, who is a pastor of another church, and Olyona our interpreter. Three churches working together in various outreaches run Hope to People. The center is a huge Soviet era three-story building with three wings. Most of it is gutted and they are slowly working on renovating all of it. They have added a new wing that is going to serve as a larger sanctuary. About 20 ministries, including three church sanctuaries and a Bible Seminary are housed there. We then drove out to see John Whittemore at the house of Sasha (my roommate at the camp and a church administrator). He runs an orphanage out of their house. He has a beautiful garden surrounding all sides of the house and the boys who live at the orphanage have done most of the work on the house. They did a beautiful job on the house with lots of nice tile and plaster work. He brought me into to a cellar where they had hundreds of cans of pickles. I asked him if they would ever eat them all and he said that in just one church summer youth camp they ate this many. Then we went to see another building project in a village on the outskirts of Rivne. They had bought an old Soviet-era insane asylum campus and are planning on turning it into a youth camp.
