WONG: And in Ukraine, blacksmiths held a festival over the weekend. It was just the place for anyone who wanted to learn the secrets of the trade. Our Ukranian team was there... and learned a thing or two about forging. STORY: 50 blacksmiths from all over Ukraine gather at the village of Pirogovo, near Kiev because today is Blacksmith Day. Want to learn how to forge? Door handles, blades, grills -- you name it -- the blacksmiths will teach you. An iron horseshoe for example: First light the hearth, then cut a piece of iron, heat it, bend it, and finally punch the holes. See? It's easy! Andrey has been forging horseshoes for over eight years. He says forging is the job he loves best. [Andrey Zubritskii, Ukranian Blacksmith]: "I couldn't work in the office; I found it dull and boring. I had a hard time controlling my emotions. Forging makes me feel good; my emotions are poured out. Everyone is happy and my mind is calm." Dmitrii says forging helps him relax. [Dmitrii Ovodenko, Blacksmith]: "To forge the red-hot iron is a kind of meditation. All the thoughts are switched off. You work with metal, fire, air and water -- the four elements. And you feel like flying; it's very exciting. You are thinking but at the same time your mind is blank." Misha and Anya dream of becoming blacksmiths, like their fathers.
